CCUSA was established in 1986. CCUSA was created to provide young adults from around the world an exciting opportunity to experience summer camp in the United States. 

Today, we are an internationally recognized cultural exchange organization that offers several programs worldwide to participants from over 60 different countries. 

We have placed over 230,000 young adults in hundreds of summer camps, volunteer opportunities, seasonal employment positions, internships, training positions and schools across the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, the United Kingdom, Europe, Brazil, Asia and South Africa!

CCUSA History

Through a CCUSA program, you will develop strong personal friendships with people from around the world; grow, learn and experience different lifestyles as more than just a tourist; and become a valuable member of the community that you work in.  Over nearly 40 years, CCUSA has continued to expand its program offerings to ensure their is an amazing opportunity available for everyone.   A detailed description of the development of our program is below.

This year, CCUSA programs will place over 15,000 individuals in work and volunteer opportunities around the world! We are extremely proud of all the programs we offer. Camp Counselors USA
In 1986, the Camp Counselors USA program was founded. We became a US J1 Visa Sponsor giving international participants the opportunity to work as camp counselors at summer camps in the U.S. As an international staff provider for more than 900 U.S. summer camps, Camp Counselors USA developed a reputation for quality service and exceptional international staff.

Camp Counselors Russia
In 1990, CCUSA expanded its camp counselor program outside of the United States with the opening of Camp Counselors Russia. This program offers the opportunity for young adults to work as camp counselors at Russian summer camps. International staff and children are able to exchange cultures and traditions in a unique setting.
Work Experience USA
In 1995, we recieved the Summer Work Travel J1 Visa designation and started Work Experience USA. This student-only program offers international students work opportunities in various seasonal jobs across the U.S during their summer holiday, including national parks, resorts, hotels, ranches, and more. Participants gain personal and professional growth while enhancing their resumes and making new friends. As a leading provider of quality staff for U.S. employers, CCUSA continues to lead the way.

Work Adventures Down Under
In 1997, Work Adventures Down Under was launched. Young adults travel to Australia and/or New Zealand to work and travel their way around the country. Work Adventures Down Under helps participants make their travel and work in these countries as carefree and memorable as possible.

Practical Training USA
In 2000, CCUSA expanded its offerings to include Practical Training USA. The J-1 trainee visa allows qualified individuals in the fields of Business, Management, Finance, and Commerce to come to the U.S. to expand their skills through a 12 to 18-month training program. Successful completion of this program is a valuable addition to anyone’s CV.

Camp California
After years of requests for an American-style summer camp in mainland Europe, in 2003 CCUSA built Camp California on the coast of the Adriatic Sea in Croatia. With over 160 international campers per two-week sessions and a staff of 50 counselors from around the world, this camp has it all! Campers can participate in a variety of activities, including a ropes course, climbing wall and an amazing waterfront program with a renowned sailing program. CCUSA recruits both campers AND staff from around the world for Camp California.
Camp Counselors Canada
In 2006, CCUSA added Camp Counselors Canada. Camp Counselors Canada gives young adults the opportunity to work as camp counselors at summer camps in Canada. Canada has a rich tradition of summer camps going back 100 years.

Working Holiday USA
In 2008, Working Holiday USA was created to allow Australians and New Zealanders the option to extend their international working adventure in the USA for up to 12-months.

Intern USA
In 2016, CCUSA added Intern USA. Intern USA gives international students the opportunity to come to the United States to work as an intern in Business, Management, Finance or Commerce for up to 12-months, Participants expand their knowledge, build their CV and make new friends.
Work Adventures Canada
In 2017, CCUSA added Work Adventures Canada, Work Adventures Canada allows young adults from Australia, New Zealand, the UK and Ireland to work and travel throughout Canada for up to 24 months.

Volunteer Abroad
In 2017, Volunteer Abroad was launched to help give young adults from all over the world the chance to volunteer in a variety of programs in 34 countries. This is an exciting new program for us and one that we know will be very popular in the years to come.

Intern Abroad
In 2017, Intern Abroad was started to help give young adults from all over the world the opportunity to intern in 30 fields/industries in 23 countries. This is an exciting new program for us to help young adults explore various careers and build an impressive CV.

Love Volunteers
In 2019, CCUSA purchased Love Volunteers enabling even more exciting opportunities for our participants to travel and give back all over the world for 1 week to a year.

Teacher USA
In 2022, CCUSA received the BridgeUSA J1 visa designation for Teacher USA. This is CCUSA’s newest exciting venture giving teachers from around the world the opportunity to teach in the USA for up to 5 years.
